Class of 2018 and Beyond Graduation Requirements Include End-Of-Course Exams & ONE of the following THREE: END-OF-COURSE EXAMS (EOC)

1.Earn a cumulative passing score on seven end-of-course exams. 2.Earn a “remediation-free” score on a nationally recognized college admission exam such as ACT or SAT. 3.Earn a State Board of Education-approved, industry-recognized credential or a state- issued license for practice in a career & achieve a score that demonstrates workforce readiness & employability on a job skills assessment.

HONORS DIPLOMA CRITERIA (Must Meet Seven of the Eight) 1.Four units of English 2.Four units of Mathematics at least Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry and another higher level course or a four-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent content 3.Four units of Science including Physics and Chemistry 4.Four units of Social Studies 5.Three units of one World (Foreign) Language or two units each of two World (Foreign) Languages 6.One unit Fine Arts 7.Maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 on an un-weighted grading scale 8.Obtain a composite score of 27 on the ACT or an equivalent composite score on the 1210 SAT

PUPIL LOAD Minimum pupil load is classes per semester not including summer school

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY ATHLETIC/CO-CURRICULAR/EXTRA-CURRICULAR Students must have received passing grades in a minimum of five one-credit courses or the equivalent. Ninth grade students must maintain a GPA of a 1.8 Tenth-twelfth grades must maintain a GPA of a 2.0 All requirements must be made in the grading period immediately preceding

N ATIONAL C OLLEGE A THLETIC A SSOCIATION College-bound student athletes must register with the NCAA if hoping to play sports at a Division I or Division II school Registering can be done on-line. Transcripts are required to complete application

COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS - CCP Any student interested in the CCP Program must circle on their Course Selection Sheet. Students must also attend a MANDATORY meeting with their parents on: February 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

SUMMER SCHOOL Summer School registration will be made available after Spring Break Check the BHS Website.

SUMMER SCHOOL DATES FIRST SESSION June 3 rd – June 19 th SECOND SESSION June 22 nd – July 10 th (no class on July 3 rd & 6 th ) Summer school meets from 7:45 a.m. – 12:25 p.m.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXEMPTION There is a policy that permits students to be exempt from PE if they participate in a sport, cheerleading, dance, or marching band.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXEMPTION Students cannot do a combination of PE exemption and physical education course.

DROPPING A SUBJECT A student may withdraw from a course within the first two weeks without penalty, providing the student’s course load does not fall below five credits for that year. If a course is dropped after the first two weeks, a grade of a “F” will be recorded.

SCHEDULE CHANGE POLICY Schedule changes may be considered for the following reasons: Change necessitated by physical health of a student Completion of course in Summer School Changes necessitated by failures Mechanical error changes Subject-level changes Classroom balancing

HONORS COURSES Have Course Selection Sheet signed by current teacher. Language Arts – Signature on Course Selection Form Math – Signature on Course Selection Form Science – Signature on Course Selection Form for Honors

COURSE LEVELS Students capable of honors or advanced placement courses should sign up for these when completing the course selection sheet. Students can be moved to a lower level course within the first grading period providing one is available and they are academically misplaced. Changing placement from regular level to honors or AP after the beginning of the school year is not an option as the student has missed too much instruction and/or the appropriate summer work for the course.

SUMMER READING & MATH ASSIGNMENT Will be made available on the Brunswick City School Website under High School Departments Language Arts Math Beginning May 15th
