Math Is Natural Seeing Patterns Solving Problems Math Is Fun! ProfessorPiFivePresents:

"Building Confidence and Enthusiasm For Learning Math" Many young learners struggle to develop number fact fluency. The conventional strategy uses quick recall of number facts. While mastery is critical, the flashcard approach provides little motivation to think about numbers. In fact, timed testing eliminates the chance to think. It’s my experience that many students have a negative response to the “drill and kill” interventions. My goal for this presentation is to help parents and teachers provide a richer context for fact fluency. Problem solving, puzzles, patterns and “tricks” are keys to math literacy and fun. This numeracy is required for smooth transitions to algebra and beyond. Why not start early!
