The dos and don’ts

1. Be sure to put the title of the text somewhere on the page where the reader will notice it. 2. Pull out 2 or more significant quotes from the text: * make you think or wonder *reminds you of something *Use different colors or even writing styles to individualize each one!! 3. Use a visual image that illustrates the pictures you have in your mind while reading. *draw or print the image, but use color! 4. Make a personal statement about what you have read: *What did it mean to you personally? *What is your opinion, final thought, big question or personal connection? 5. The audience should understand something about the novel when you are done. WHAT TO DO

 Don’t merely summarize the text!  You are not retelling the story!!  Don’t think half a page will do!  Make it rich with quotes and images!  Fill the paper!! WHAT NOT TO DO
