Classroom Rules and Procedures- Developmental Language Arts The following discipline procedures will be used in class!

Classroom Rules 1. Enter the classroom on time and sit down quietly. 2. Follow all instructions given by teacher. 3. Raise your hand to speak and to leave your seat. 4. No electronic devices of any kind:cell phone, I-pods, mp3, etc. (except when used for educational purposes as instructed by teacher.) 5. Be respectful to fellow students and the teacher.

Disciplinary Procedures 1 st offence- Warning 2 nd offence- Parent Notification 3 rd offence- Detention 4 th offence- Referral to the office This procedure may be altered according to the severity of the offence!!!!

Incentives 1. Praise 2. Parent contact 3. Nomination for student of the month award 4. Homework passes

Classroom Procedures

Being Prepared and Writing Utensils Being Prepared Bring required materials each day, pencils, pens and paper. It is your job to keep your class folder stocked with paper. Also, it means to bring your homework back on time! Writing Utensils a.Students may use a pencil or a pen (blue or black ink) b. Blue or black ink should be used for formal writing assignments. c. Typed or computer generated work will be accepted with prior approval of the teacher.

Entering and Exiting Class Entering Class A.After entering the room, students may not leave without permission. B.Upon entering, students should go to their assigned seats and prepare for class until the bell rings. C.After the bell rings students should listen for teacher instruction and begin working. Exiting Class A.The teacher will dismiss the class Not The Bell. B.Do not pack books to exit class until instructed to do so by the teacher. C.Students are responsible for cleaning the area around their desks before leaving the room.

Maintaining Your Class Folder Your Class Folder: 1.Divide in three sections. You can do this with a colored paper or other divider. Name the first section classwork; the second writing assignments; and the third tests. 2.The assigned classwork, writing assignments and test will be graded. 3.Also, you will receive a grade for the contents of your folder before progress reports and at the end of the quarter. 4.The grades for the folder count as test grades.

Papers Handing Out and Collecting Class Folders. At the beginning of each class an assigned student will hand out the class folders. When instructed by the teacher towards end of class, pass the folder to the student in front of you. Teacher will collect them from those students. Heading Papers Write your full name, the date and your period number on the top-right hand corner of all pages. Place Heading on the paper as instructed by teacher. Writing on the back of homework and class work is permitted. Passing in papers Papers remain in student folder until teacher instructs to hand them in. When handing in papers pass them to the student in front of you/ Teacher will collect them from the first person in row.

Restroom and Water a.Students should use the restroom and get water before class. b. After entering the classroom, students must raise there hand for permission to use the restroom or get water. c. Getting permission to use the restroom and get water should not be used to interrupt class or to take a break!

Pencil Sharpening and Trash Pencil Sharpening a.Students are to sharpen pencils upon entering the classroom. b.If your lead breaks during class and if your have no other writing utensil, raise your hand and wait for further instructions. Trash a.Trash will be thrown away when your are dismissed from class. Keep it at your desk until you are dismissed. b.Pick up all paper around your desk before leaving the room.

Walking In The Hallways As A Class A.Students are expected to walk in a straight line when in the hallway. B.There will be NO TALKING in line. Other students are still in class. C.All class rules apply in the hallway.

ES0L ONE –IMAGINE LEARNING PROGRAM ESOL ONE students will be required to work on the Imagine Learning Program 30 minutes a day in class Tuesday through Friday. Students will be grouped and sent to the computer in groups. While on the computers students must behave adequately and be on task. Imagine Learning will be done one hour a week at home for home learning. Students are responsible for knowing their passwords.

ACHIEVE 3000 (TEENBIZ) ESOL ONE students will be required to complete two articles a week for homework on the Achieve 3000 reading program. ESOL TWO students will be required to complete three articles a week for homework on the Achieve 3000 reading program. Also, ESOL TWO students will work in class on the Achieve 3000 Reading Program for 30 minutes Thursday to Friday. Students will be grouped and sent to the computer in groups. While on the computers students must behave adequately and be on task.
