Students are People First  Use a pleasant tone of voice when speaking to students  Use a student’s first name frequently  Make polite request of students. Say “Please” and “Thank You”.  Talk to students conversationally  Talk to students close up, rather than yelling across the room.  Greet students when they arrive, and say “Good Bye” when they leave.  Look at students when talking to them.  Say positive things to and about the students.  Never imitate a student to make fun.  Attempt prompting before using physical guidance.  Use physical guidance in a way that respects student dignity. 18 WE ARE HERE FOR THE STUDENTS
