Methodology and Limitations Cynthia Surveys were available for 3 days. Participation was voluntary. Provided an Informed Consent Form. Encouraged to complete a raffle slip.

Statistical analysis Felicia Significance is 5% or less random chance Association is influence of one response on another

Methodology and limitations cont. Cynthia Estimated Pilgrim Place population from 98 to 103. Sample size was 75. Ideally it would be 80 to 85. To address limitation response categories were simplified. In some instances reductions in categories were not sufficient to draw a conclusions from data.

Typical Respondent Mubassar and Manraj Associated with HSC for a little over a year or less, English speaking female between the ages of 35 to 55 years old with some college education or less.

Quality of Life at HSC Mubassar/ Manraj Respondents indicate that HSC staff is available to dress, bath, provide satisfying meals, show respect and care towards elders. Staff feels a sense community with peers.

Quality of Life at HSC Mubassar/ Manraj The respondents indicate that HSC is respectful and caring towards elder residents, while paying special attention to personal services.

Personal Services Mubassar /Manraj Staff aid with personal services, especially restroom help, is significantly related to help with bathing as well as dressing when elder residents want and need it.

Food (Breakfast) and Enjoying Activities Anthony and Matt There is a relationship between home like atmosphere and enjoyment of daily activities (.002); The relationship is strong (.373)

Food Quantity Anthony and Matt The data suggests that many staff associate satisfaction with the quantity of the food with the timing of meals. The relationship is strong. Significant with years at HSC.

Mobility Nicholas Significant with free to come and go Relationship between assisted mobility and is uncorrelated Exception is assistance with restrooms and being able to come and go as they wish.

Social relations and mental well being Rhoneil A relationship between elder’ participation and better spiritual and mental well being

Cynthia, Felicia and Jerry Respectful relations with elders Primary relationship is between “listening” and respect. Other factors e.g. knocking, moving possession not statistically sig.

Nicholas Staff well being Have colleagues they can socialize, relax with and rely upon However, these sentiments did not influence perception of being appreciated.

OUR Conclusions Nichlas Mobility was not significantly related to quality of life issues--but Restroom assistance, food proportions and hot/warm food related to quality of life at HSC: personal services, mealtimes + satisfaction with breakfast.

Sharing and Listening Nicholas. Listening significant with respect. Socializing significant with mental/spiritual well being
