Success Stories Teachers better in content and comfortable with new strategies. “More and better” is possible. More diversity in the workforce. Collaboration where there has been little before. Dissemination in many dimensions.

Teachers Better Prepared in Content and Pedagogy Teach in different ways. COP observations of th grade science and mathematics classes indicated O-TEC teachers use different teaching strategies. Especially evident in “collaborative interactions among students.” Know more content. Students from O-TEC institutions have significantly higher passing rates on the Oklahoma Subject Area Test mathematics.

Diversity: Increase in Native American Teachers

Collaboration: Two-Year/Four-Year Challenge Collaboration begun in program for parateachers has given rise to a formal two-year/four-year curriculum. Tulsa Community College Enrollment Percent Minority 17%18% Percent Part Time 58%59%58% Percent Non- Traditional 34%36%45%

Dissemination Traditional ways plus… In-service programs have reached over 1000 veteran teachers. Trainers cooperate nationally with Carolina Biological for STC training. International training scheduled for Thailand, China, Kazakhstan
