In order to give all candidates the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, some players may be selected for the team after Day 2 of tryouts. This will allow greater attention for the remaining candidates.

TRYOUT PROCEDURES Coaches will evaluate players using the following criteria and a rubric system:  Passing/Catching/Shooting (both left and right hands)  Cradling (both left and right hands)  Agility and Physical Aptitude  Physical Fitness  Attitude and Coachability

IROQUOIS LADY CHIEFS LACROSSE 2013 TEAM SELECTION It is expected that there will be more players trying out than there are available spots at all levels. Final roster determination will be made based on the combined rubric score of the three day tryout. In case of academic or physical ineligibility of a team member during the season, call-backs will be based on rubric scores.

Team Members: Varsity: 18 – 20 JV: 20 – 22 Modified: 22 – 24 Contests: Modified: 12 JV: 15 Varsity: 16

1. The skill level of lacrosse players in Western New York has increased significantly in recent years. 2. Many girls have put in time either playing at grade level or higher during the off-season. 3. Playing at a particular level during the off-season does not guarantee a spot on the season roster at that level. 4. Players may try out for any level they are eligible to play at, but the coaches will make the final decision regarding each candidate’s level of play. 5. If a 7 th or 8 th grader chooses to try out for the JV or Varsity team and does not make that team they may still try out for the Modified team.

Tryouts Begin Modified: Monday, March 18 th JV: Tuesday, March 5 th VarsityMonday, March 4 th First Scheduled Game – Modified:April 23 th vs Eden JV :March 26 th vs Orchard Park Varsity:March 26 th at Orchard Park Last Scheduled Game – Modified: May 20 th vs WSW JV :May 15 th at Frontier

 Grades  ICS Code of Ethics  Commitment  Respect

 Consequences  Loss of playing time  Suspension from the Team  Removal from the Team  Removal from the Program

All players are expected to be present and prepared for practice each day. Playing time and roles of responsibility are earned through day-to-day hard work at practice – nothing is automatic. If a player misses a practice the day before a game, the player is ineligible to play in the next game.

 Be positive and constructive  Respect players and officials  Let the coaches question calls/ non-calls  Team can be penalized for inappropriate spectator behavior
