5 th grade library assistants Extraordinary, sanctuary, literary, visionary, necessary, = LIBRARY

Newly relocated Bishop Media Center

Lowman Hill Loves Clifford The “Easy Book” area in the Lowman Hill Library is a good place to read and share books.

McCarter Elementary School We Love Our Library

Landon Middle School Media Center “computer cluster” at work.

Volunteers love libraries. Librarians love volunteers. McEachron Media Center

Thank you from the Media Center at Williams Science and Fine Arts Magnet Why I Like the Media Center, by fifth grader Morgan Johnson My school’s media center is cool. I find everything I’m looking for. It comes in handy like if I’m just looking for something to read or if it’s for an essay. The library teacher helps too. I love it there. Why I Like the Media Center, by fifth grader Tristan Holmes I like the media center because it has lots of books that people can read. The media center is for learning and I like that. There is a computer lab you can take an AR test on and go to cool kid sites. The thing I like most about the media center is it gives you a warm feeling.

Reading with a friend in the library! Scott Computer Technology Magnet School

First you bring back all the books you’ve been reading and then you check out MORE! Randolph Media Center is in the heart of the school.

Hope Street’s library is a multi-functional gathering room. Classes are held in the library four hours a day; teachers bring overflow students into the library to complete online research; small groups are sent at different times during the day; individual students arrive to work independently; students and teachers come for resources or to request interlibrary loan.

Students searching for books to check out from the “Easy Book” section of Ross Media Center.

Avondale East Media Center – “Ready for business”

Topeka High students listened to book talks for their Young Adult Literature class, while other students worked with laptops to research topics for their speech class.

“This is my entry for the library PowerPoint. It might not be the best, but it was made by three 5 th graders who I sometimes have trouble with. They came to me one day with the poster without prompting, so I just have to use it.“ Janet Baldwin, Meadows Media Center

FRENCH MIDDLE SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER ROCKS!!!

Dr. Pat Martin assists a student learning advanced research techniques and the use of on- line data bases. Students practice newly gained research skills locating materials in language arts and social studies.

Lundgren Library Small Spaces – Big Ideas

Students enjoy working in the quiet atmosphere of the Capital City School Library Notethe “way cool“ display board in the background!

Readers make leaders at Linn Library

We at Chase Media Center appreciate the support because “Reading and Information Take You Places!”

Readers at the Eisenhower Library Media Center

State Street Media Center We are truly thankful for the bright new space that makes learning to love books and reading a delight. Thank you for making this possible.

At Quincy the students practiced making graphs from the library checkout data they gathered about their favorite Dr Seuss books! The charts are displayed in the hallways outside their rooms.

Part of the “before school” group of boys that frequent the Jardine Library. They had 30 seconds to find a favorite book they’d read. There were moans because so many favorites were checked out. Middle School Media Specialists facilitated reading groups who participated in an author visit sponsored by the Topeka and Shawnee County Library. Here is Jardine’s group and author Jacqueline Woodson.

Stout students were drawing pictures about the library for the Library Media Specialist. ( Lauri Wright sent this as a PDF, so it’s been scanned, printed, digitized as a picture, compressed and pasted here for your enjoyment.)

Thank You From Whitson Library Students love our library !

With these books the students are provided with a wide variety of resources to meet the ever expanding range of learning styles. They, also, are able to investigate areas of personal interests and expand their imagination.
