Body Image Survey Carolina Lopes Nº8 Carolina Pereira Nº9 Escola Secundária de Arganil 2008/ ºB

How do portuguese teens look at their own image? We wanted to understand the way do portuguese teens look at their own and the way they feel about themselves. So, we made that survey by asking some of our friends.

How do teens feel about themselves: Like we could see, 6 in 14 teens feel really good about themselves, 5 in 14 said that they just feel kind of good. 2 teens said us that they don’t feel very good and 1 teen said that they feel bad. So, we concluded that most teens feel good.

How satisfied are teens with their looks: To this question, 2 in 14 teens said that they are very satisfied with their looks, 10 in 14 answered they are not completly satisfied and 2 in 14 said that are not satisfied. We could conclued that most teens have not the look they want to, but they are not so worried about that.

How important are looks when it comes to:

Like we saw on the previous graphic, most teens think that look are not important when it comes to making friends, however they think that to succeed it have some influence. Most teens said us that to be respected, looks doesn’t matter but it could help being happy.

Which of the following would make teens feel better about themselves?

We asked 14 teens about what could make them happier.   57% said that they would be happier if they had better marks;   43% want to lose some weight;   21% said us that to be happier, they hope to do better in sports or changing a part of their body that they don’t like   36% want to have a better relationship with their parents;   29% said they hope to wear cooler clothes or fit in with a certain crowd;   7% want to have a tattoo and 14% want to have a piercing;   Just a minority said that don’t want to change anything because they like themselves the way they are.

In general we concluded that nowadays teens like themselves the way they are, but if someone gives them a chance, they would make some changes related with their appearence. Conclusion
