Daily Inspection Check all hoses and backpack straps for wear and proper function. Check cylinder gauge. Cylinders shall be maintained with no less than 90% of the rated capacity = 4,050 psi. Check that the MMR shut off button is pushed in and the emergency by-pass valve is closed. Open cylinder valve fully. Listen for the low air alarm to ring, indicating it is cocked and the PASS device to sound proper activation tones. Compare cylinder valve and harness gauge. Readings must be within +/- 5% of each other. Also note, green flashing light on PASS device indicating it is activated and operating. Open emergency bypass and listen for air released from the MMR. Close cylinder valve. Watch harness pressure gauge. Pressure must not drop more than 100psi in ten seconds. Push "MMR shut off" button in while watching harness pressure gauge. The low air alarm must start to ring as needle enters red zone. After all air is bled from the system turn PASS device off, by pressing either reset button two times within approximately one second. Document inspection by filling SCBA inspection form located in apparatus book. Good job if you read each of these bullets.

Weekly and After Use Inspection Weeklies performed on 7 th, 14 th, 21 st, and 28 th After Use Inspections performed after SCBA is used After Use Inspections are in apparatus books – fill them out! Review procedure can be found in policy 3501

Cleaning Turn cylinder on prior to cleaning SCBA! Cleaning and gross decontamination can be completed with a hose and truck brush after the cylinder is turned on. Leave compartment doors open so packs air dry.
