Donor portraits Ch. 20 Northern Europe

Donor portrait- a portrait of individual(s) who commissioned (donated) a religious work, for example, an altarpiece, as evidence of devotion. Patron- the person or entity that pays an artist to produce individual artworks or employs an artist on a continuing basis.
