INTRODUCTION Benefits of Deh Cho Bridge Overview of Tolling System – Toll Structure – Infrastructure – Enforcement/Regulation Questions and Comments
Year Round Uninterrupted Access Reduced Vulnerability to the Effects of Climate Change Reduced Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Trucking and Ferry Operations Reduced Risk of Fuel Spills Reduced Cost of Living Increased Economic Development, esp. from Tourism Reduced Sense of Isolation OVERALL BENEFITS
Reduced Down Time for Equipment Greater Certainty for Supply Chain / JIT Delivery Increased Cycle Time Reduced Fuel Consumption - Emissions Increased Competitiveness with Southern Firms Shortened Delivery Time 24 Hour Service Reduced Warehousing Costs INDUSTRY BENEFITS
PRE-CLEARANCE Partners in Compliance Program (PIC) Motor carrier safety program initiated in Alberta that rewards motor carriers with exemplary safety records. The Department of Transportation has signed an MOU with the Alberta Motor Transport Association to expand PIC to the NWT. The transponders used in the Deh Cho Bridge tolling system are also being used to support the PIC program in Alberta.
