What can you say about …?

 It is located in North America – south of the Arctic and north of the United States. The border between Canada and USA is the longest in the world at 8,891 km.  Despite the amount of space, most of the 34 million people live close to the US border where the climate is milder (BUT STILL COLD IN WINTER!).

Canada in Newfoundland only joined the Dominion of Canada in 1947.

 Canada is made up of 14 federal states. It is a constitutional monarchy.  The monarch of the UK is the official head of state, but has little influence on Canadian politics and is represented by the Governor General, whose role is also symbolic.  The everyday running of the country is carried out by the prime minister and his cabinet.

The Canadian Parliament Building in Ottawa.

 Would you like to go there for a visit? I would love to, but the flights are quite expensive.  Read through the worksheet and use information from this presentation and the internet to fill in the gaps!   HAVE FUN!
