Reading: Long Passages Unit 2

Strategy: Mark the Long Passages Finish marking the Leonardo da Vinci passage in your packet, remembering to: Identify any opinions Identify the purpose of each paragraph Underline any key words or ideas Include brief notes in the margin Read through the questions and explanations on the back side of the passage.

Strategy: Mark the Long Passages Read the question stems for questions #1-8 for the passage about the author’s childhood on a Caribbean island. Mark the passage as you read it. Review: Sentence Corrections B is correct There are two clauses. The first is in direct opposition to the second, so the coordinating conjunction but is needed.

Review: Sentence Corrections C is correct The subject sound lacks a verb. The word blocked is not a verb; it is being used as an adjective. We need a choice that includes was blocked. D and E use was but make a mess of the sentence. Remember, SAT will prefer sentences that are more concise.
