Homemade EVO Valve Spring Compressor Tool
Parts List 1.One O2 Sensor Socket 2.One 1”diameter washer (1/2” inside) 3.One 3” piece of ½” square metal tubing 4.One ~12”-16” piece of 1.5” wide steel bar (12 gauge) 5.One ~5’ piece of 1” square tubing (1/16” thickness) 6.One ~3’ piece of solid ½” round metal bar 7.A welder Total cost: ~$35 and maybe 4 hours (less if you have a really good compressor and die grinder). I already had the O2 socket…I think they run about $10.

O2 Sensor Socket Grind two or three areas on the O2 socket to prepare for the weld. Washer is 1” diameter with 0.5” inside hole. Tack weld it on.
Towers (qty 2) Cut the 1” square metal tube into 6.5” pieces Grind one end sharp to get a good weld Drill ½” hole near top (ream it slightly larger than ½”) Measure across your camshaft caps, cut the 1.5” wide metal bar to span the distance across the caps. Slot the base to match the inside cap bolts Grind all 4 sides Weld bead around 4 sides ½” hole VIEW A-1 Slots Make triangular support with extra 1/8” bar – Weld it in place VIEW A-2 Yes, my welds are fugly 4 11/16” ½” 6.5” 7/8” 3/8”
Leverage Bar / Pivot Bar Take what you have left of the 1” square tube, and cut 2 rectangular slots on opposite sides Top View Side View 2’ 7.25” 5.5’ 6.5” ¼” hole slightly reamed ¾” ½” hole slightly reamed ~3” ¾” ½” square metal tubing
Assembly Side View ½” round solid metal bar Use screw driver here The open side of the O2 socket will help catch the keepers
Assembly 3/8” to ½” converter if needed Simple Screw driver works good here
In Action Note: I had to grind the washer a bit to fit some valves close to the head
