LHQ Coil 02 Winding and Curing Plan Miao Yu 03/21/13

To do list  Coil parts Visit the vendor and discuss the improvement of the coating thickness. Plasma coat all parts, the same as LHQ coil 01. No modification on the saddles. (Saddles should fit after curing when the coil end is pushed into the cross-section perimeter, and with the coil end hold down tooling, saddles may fit even during winding) If saddles not fit after curing, grind extra material including coating. No room for Nomex.  Gap Pole gap will be determined after coil 01 reaction Wedge gap will be determined after experiment on thermal expansion.  About pop strand Try no twist on the cable between spool and the coil. Use winding tool Use binder when pop strand is hard to fix by hand 2

To do list cont.  Binder Use less binder on interlayer insulation and quantify the amount Use the proper amount of binder for L1 and L2, scale up from HQ coil.  Others Try no 1 mil mica at the tips of end parts. Over compress the coil straight section by 5 mil. Use 10 mil Mylar as curing radial shims instead of SS. Measure R, L, Q as QA Voltage tap fabrication with 1.5 mil min. thickness. (LBNL, Dan) Add one more clamp to the lifting fixture to hold down the RE. (BNL, Jesse) Make one pair of longer mid-plane rails to the shipping fixture to support power lead. (BNL, Jesse) 3
