Kixor® Herbicide Family of Products BASF - Kixor Symposium 4/13/2017 BO_Duchene_v2.ppt Kixor® Herbicide Family of Products Liquid SC Use Rate: 1 to 3 fl oz/A Cereals Corn Cotton Fallow Grain Sorghum Pulses Soybean Sunflower (desiccation) Liquid EC Use Rate: 5 to 18 fl oz/A Corn (field & silage) Popcorn Grain Sorghum Soybean Dry WG Use Rate: 1 oz/A Citrus Pome Fruit Tree Nut Use Rate: 1.5 to 2 oz/A Pulses Liquid SC Use Rate: 1 to 3 fl oz/A Cereals Corn Cotton Fallow Sunflower (desiccation) Liquid EC Use Rate: 5 to 18 fl oz/A Corn (field & silage) Popcorn Grain Sorghum Soybean Dry WG Use Rate: 1 oz/A Citrus Pome Fruit Tree Nut Use Rate: 1.5 to 2 oz/A Pulses Sharpen was specifically developed to meet the expanding need for a faster, flexible burndown solution for even the toughest broadleaf weeds in a wide range of crops. Sharpen has a rate range from 1 to 3 ounces per acre. 1 ounce is the burndown rate across a wide range of crops. The higher rates can be used in corn for longer residual. Sharpen offers approximately 7-14 days of residual per ounce of Sharpen. Pulses = chickpeas & dry field peas 4

Broad-Spectrum Broadleaf Activity Innovation Unique Chemistry Wide range of crop uses Broad-Spectrum Broadleaf Activity 70+ of the toughest broadleaves including ALS, triazine, and glyphosate resistant biotypes Burndown, Soil Activity and Desiccation Uses One of the most flexible and versatile herbicide technologies on the market today We and our customers are excited about the registration and launch of Kixor. Kixor is truly a unique chemistry. It is the only pyrimidinedione chemistry available in the U.S. market. With its broad range of crops and few rotational crop restrictions, Kixor is one of the most flexible and versatile broadleaf herbicides on the market. A family of 4 products powered by Kixor is being developed based on specific market needs for better broadleaf weed control. Kixor will provide control of all major annual broadleaf weeds including ALS, triazine, and glyphosate resistant biotypes. Kixor demonstrates both foliar burndown and soil residual activity. Kixor is 21st Century Technology for the 21st Century Farmer. 5

Success in 2010 Applied to over 10 million acres in 2010 Largest herbicide launch in 2 decades Providing value to the channel and farmer

Summary of Challenges Sunflower Desiccation and Harvest Aid BASF has not seen these challenges in earlier 2010 successful applications nor in prior years of research. BASF logged alleged concerns on Sharpen Herbicide Performance in Sunflower Desiccation, and worked quickly with growers and applicators to reach resolution. Based on the trends observed from the challenges reported, some clear Critical Success Factors emerged.

Sharpen Sunflower Desiccation Critical Success Factors Water Volume More is better Label revised from 3 gpa to 5 gpa Adjuvant MSO @ 1 pt/A or MSO based HSOC @ 0.75 pt/A. AMS @ 8.5-17 lb/100 gal or 1.25-2.5 gal 28% UAN/100gal Application Timing Label allows application at physiological maturity If applied prior to PM, it will take longer to desiccate

Sharpen Sunflower Desiccation Ongoing Research Small Plot Replicated Trials NDSU Fargo, Carrington, and Minot Evaluate adjuvant rates with and without glyphosate tankmix Evaluate application timing Aerial Application Split Field Trials Evaluate various oil adjuvant rates Fifteen locations scattered throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and NW Minnesota
