Cleanup Materials u Protective suit and respirator u Work gloves and eye protection u Hand-pumped water sprayer u Labeled heavy-duty plastic bags (6 mil poly) u HEPA vacuum cleaner u Cleaner u Sponges, rags, mops u Special containers for hazardous waste (if needed) 7

Daily Cleanup u Leave enough time at the end of the day for daily cleanup u Helps keep lead dust levels down u Required by OSHA u Makes final cleanup easier 9

Final Cleanup u Three stages 1 Special cleaning  HEPA vacuum all surfaces/ Wet Wash/HEPA 2 Painting and resealing 3 HEPA/Wet Wash/HEPA (again) 18

Final Cleanup u Phase 1 of final cleanup ü Wait at least one hour before beginning stage one of final cleanup; By then all airborne dust should have settled. 19

Waste Disposal u In many States, residential lead abatement or renovation debris is not hazardous waste ü Careful handling of all LBP waste is important! u In some States, the waste must be tested to see if it’s hazardous using the TCLP (Toxicity Characteristic Leachate Procedure) Hazardous Waste 46

Hazardous Waste Disposal u Separate the waste u Store it in special containers in a secure area. u Use a licensed transporter u Take it to a licensed disposal site u Use a hazardous waste manifest 49
