YOUR OFFICERS….. President Frank Corbi Vice President Nick DiPietro Treasurer Scott Unterbrink Secretary Rob Schaefer Concessions Laura Nardi Webmaster Lisa Turner

Meeting Schedule First Monday of each month (Dec – May) 7:00 PM North Cafeteria

What the Booster Club Provides: Senior Scholarships (for qualified wrestlers) Equipment (Singlet's, Warm ups, etc.) Banquet (DVD’s, Photos, Clothing, Food) Breakfast during morning runs & the Region 7/8 duals Wrestling Mats (percentage) Concessions (at every home match & tournament) An Annual JV Tournament An Annual Fashion Show (fundraiser) An Annual Golf Tournament (fundraiser) Gifts to coaching staff

What Cherokee High School Provides: Entry fees to Tournaments (5 varsity & 6 sub-varsity) Referees (for additional sub-varsity matches) Wrestling Mats (percentage-majority of cost) Practice t-shirt & shorts for each wrestler as well as other equipment Security Insurance

Why a points system? Sustain Booster Club viability & Financial stability due to: A significant increase in the number of wrestlers participating (from 26 to a potential 70 in 5 years) A significant decline in parent participation A reliance entirely too much on a few parents/families

Booster Club spends approximately $450 Booster Club spends approximately $450.00 including scholarship monies per wrestler each year. As of today, we have 70 wrestlers that have expressed an interest in participating this year. 70 * 450 = $31,500

(6/24) 2008 Golf Tournament participation helped to make this decision. There were 50 families in the program as of September 20, 2008 and only 16 provided a sponsor or raised a donation. Sponsors Dollars Golfers raised Existing Families 67% 57% 42% (16/24) Coaching Staff 8% 14% 24% (2/24) Alumni 25% 29% 34% (6/24)

Qualifications for yearly scholarship Wrestler must be in good standing and finish their senior year on the team. 8 points required for Freshman (golf outing) 12 points/year for maximum award ($250.00) 0 - 3 pts $0 3.1 - 5 pts $50 6 - 7 pts $85 8 pts $125 9 pts $150 10 pts $185 11 pts $215 12 pts $250

Siblings on team simultaneously need 3 additional points to earn full scholarship Point accumulation November - October of Wrestling season. 2008 wrestling season point requirement reduced to 8 points as major fund raiser (golf tournament) has already occurred. 2 - 3.5 pts $50 3.6 - 4.9 pts $85 5 pts $125 6 pts $150 7 pts $200 8 pts $250 (also applies to Freshman) -

One scholarship per qualified wrestler (multiple individuals can accumulate pts for that wrestler) Applies for 4 years for incoming Freshman, 3 years for Sophomores, 2 years for Juniors and 1 year for Seniors starting November 2008. Points in excess of requirement do not "roll over" to following year

Point system does not apply to wrestling manager scholarships. Any discrepancies to be resolved by President of Cherokee Wrestling Booster Club and his/her decision is final. President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary successors earn 4pts when named if they in fact take over the position the following year (succession planning).
