What? Brownfield Cleanup Grant City is applying for a $200,000 Cleanup Grant (site specific) Can submit up to three site-specific cleanup proposals. $200,000 is the maximum amount available per site. Can be used for cleanup of both petroleum and hazardous substances. 2

Grant funds may be used for direct costs associated with the cleanup activities, required performance reporting, construction oversight, and environmental monitoring of cleanup work Grant funds may not be used for administrative costs - with the exception of financial or performance reporting - or application preparation costs. 3 What? Site Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be the sole owner of the site Applicant must own the site at the time of proposal submission Applicant must provide a 20% Cost Share ($200,000 Grant requires additional $40,000) Applicant must have performed AAI at the time they acquired the site. Brownfield Cleanup Grant EPA’s Strategic Plan to “Sustain, Clean-up, and Restore Communities and the Ecological Systems that Support them” In 2009, EPA partnered with HUD to “to discourage sprawl and encourage or incentivize location efficient investments, smart growth practices, and green infrastructure development...” 5
