T-Shirt Designs (Extra Credit Work)

Requirements: Use powerful images can effectively convey messages and promote action. Create an image and slogan that represent either the theme of “Protecting Local Ecosystems” or “Baynanza: Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day” to be printed on a T-shirt.

Theme 1: Protecting Local Ecosystems Design an image with a compelling environmental message about protecting one of South Florida ecosystems: – San dune – Pine Rockland – Coral reef – Wetland – Mangrove – Hardwood hammock

Theme 2: Baynanza: Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day Design an image with a compelling environmental message about cleaning up Biscayne Bay. Biscayne Bay is the bay where the Miami Sequarium is located, Key Biscayne, the Miami Planetarium, etc.

What Baynanza is? It is a fun-filled, six-week-long extravaganza that celebrates one of our most precious natural resources, Biscayne Bay, and its surroundings. While Baynanza includes approximately 35 great events throughout March and April, the event that has become nearly synonymous with this celebration is the Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day. This community event draws more than 7,500 volunteers out to the shores and islands of our Bay. In 2011, they collectively removed a record amount of more than 40 tons of garbage from our shorelines and nearby islands.

Why do we have to clean the bay? The bay has been suffering from pollution and its marine environment was in steep decline. Baynanza was created as part of a larger effort to save the bay. Biscayne Bay as one of the most important ecological systems in South Florida.
