What is Christian Life Community? CLC is an international lay organisation.  60 countries  50,000 members  Meeting regularly in small groups  Formed in Ignatian spirituality

How did CLC begin?  1540 Society of Jesus formed  1563 Marian Congregations formed  change to present name and constitution

Who was St Ignatius of Loyola?

Ignatius of Loyola  Born a minor nobleman, Inigo Lopez, in 1491 in the Basque region of Spain  At 14 he was sent away to train as a royal page to the King of Spain  He was injured while defending Spain against the French at Pamplona  While recovering, he discovered the working of God in his life  He decided to devote his life completely to God  In 1540 he founded the Society of Jesus  He was canonized in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV

Ignatian Spirituality Is for those who seek:  a deepening relationship with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit  greater inner freedom  deeper inner healing, integrity and authenticity  renewed energy for Christ’s mission  renewed sense of purpose, direction, meaning

and …   a clearer sense of God's presence and activity in one's life   a greater sense of connection with oneself, loved ones, the human family, and all creation   a thirst for justice and peace   a greater openness to “helping others”

How will I benefit from membership of CLC? 1. Discover “the more” in life 2. Experience the unique relationship God has with each of us 3. Be part of an active, supportive community of like-minded Christians 4. Share the challenges of living and believing 5. Integrate your faith and life 6. Help you to make God-centred decisions in your life

What are the next steps? Invitation  Make contact with the local CLC person in your State.  Discuss how you can have an experience of CLC.  After attending a number of meetings you will be asked to evaluate whether you wish to continue.  After a period of about 6 months, you will be asked whether you wish to join CLC.

Membership  If you decide to become a member of CLC, you will be asked to complete the membership form, attach your membership fee and send it into head office.  You will receive a membership kit and be welcomed into the Christian Life Community family.
