Supremacy of Scripture Wednesday, March 28

Class Plan - Content 1. Introduction 2-3 Of much we have been FORGIVEN, therefore we pray that all men be saved 4 Personal Relationships – how we should treat others 5-6-7 False Teachers; Why, How, What 8 All SCRIPTURE is inspired by GOD and PROFITABLE 9-10 The role of WOMEN in the Church 11-12 Widows; Then & Now 13-14 Slavery; Then & Now 15-16 Respect for Authority 17-18 Elders & Deacons 19-23 How does what Paul told Timothy and Titus to do relate to responsibilities and authority in the Church today. Preachers, Apostles, Clergy, Overseers of Overseers 24-25 Vessels of Honor 26 Wrap-up

Attention! 1 Timothy 4:14-16 (NASB) 14Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery. 15Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all. 16Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.

Guard ! 1 Timothy 6:20-21 (NASB) 20O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge”— 21which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith. Grace be with you.

Retain ! 2 Timothy 1:13-14 (NASB) 13Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.

Entrust ! 2 Timothy 2:1-2 (NASB) 1You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Diligently, Accurately Handle ! 2 Timothy 2:15 (NASB) 15Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

Continue ! 2 Timothy 3:14-15 (NASB) 14You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Be Equipped ! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB) 16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Preach the Word ! 2 Timothy 4:1-2 (NASB) 1I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Bring Treasure ! Matthew 13:51-52(NASB) 51“Have you understood all these things?” They said* to Him, “Yes.” 52And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

Understand ! John 5:39-40(NASB) 39“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Examine ! Acts 17:10-11(NASB) 10The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

Oracles of God ! Romans 3:1-2(NASB) 1Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? 2Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God. 1 Peter 4:10-11(ESV) 10As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Preach Christ Crucified ! 1 Corinthians 1:18-25(NASB) 18For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” 20Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach £Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Be not deceived ! 1 Corinthians 3:18-21(NASB) 18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”; 20and again, “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.” 21So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you,

Be Free ! Colossians 2:8(NASB) 8See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

Listen ! Luke 24:32(NASB) 32They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?”

Spiritually Interpret ! 2 Peter 1:20-21(NASB) 20But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Be Perfect ! Psalms 19:7(NASB) 7 The law of the LORD is £perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Be instructed, encouraged ! Romans 15:4(NASB) 4For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Become pierced ! Hebrews 4:12(NASB) 12For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
