In 1927,7-ELEVEN (7-11) 's predecessor Southland Ice Company was founded in the United States (Dallas, Texas), the main business is to sell ice cream, milk and egg. In 1946, Southern Co (The Southland Corporation) business hours will be extended to 7 o'clock in the morning to 11 at night, and so was born the "7-ELEVEN". In ELEVEN started franchising management (FC). In 1990,The Southland Company go bankrupts. In 1991, Ito Yokado bought 73% of the company's shares, becoming the largest shareholder of The Southland Company. In April 28, 1999, the Southland Company officially changed its name to 7-ELEVENINC.
