A strict policy of compliance with the regulations and continuous improvement of environmental performance shall be undertaken. Those companies operating in partnership with ArcelorMittal Steel Coat Europe shall also be associated with this undertaking. The results concerning the environment shall be measured and shall be subject to continuous appraisal. They shall be diffused internally with the aim of increasing the involvement of everybody. Furthermore, a suitable programm of awareness and training shall be established for the whole of the personnel. Management reviews and management system audits shall be carried out; they shall provide regular checks on the application of the policy in the field and indicate areas of progress. I undertake, with the support of all the personnel, that our activities, our products and our services shall be indertaken in compliance with this policy. I entrust responsibility for setting up this policy to the Continuous Improvement Manager and the Production Manager. I must insist that everyone contributes to respecting this undertaking and its efficiency and progress. I charge the environmental coordinator with ensuring that the requirements of the environmental management system are established, executed and maintained in accordance with the ISO standard. I instruct the Environmental Continuous Improvement Manager to periodically report to the General Management, at the very highest level, on the performance of the environmental management system so that it may be continuously examined and improved. Respect for the environment is one of the objectives of Steel Coat Europe, together with improvement in safety, employees management and satisfaction, customers satisfaction and the satisfaction of shareholders. Within the framework of the environmental policy of ArcelorMittal, the company has adopted a system of environmental management that complies with the ISO international standard. This policy is integrated within the existing quality assurance system. As part of this overall objective, the following eight principles must be integrated within the activities of ArcelorMittal Steel Coat Europe : Lasting development guaranteeing a long-term balance between environment, economics and social well-being; Continual progress in environmental performance including constant respect for the surroundings and maximum prevention of nuisances; The development, improvement and application of production methods that have as little environmental impact as is reasonably possible; The development and manufacture of products that encourage environmental performance in terms of utilization and recycling, all in close collaboration with the clients and suppliers; The efficient utilization of natural resources and energy; The undertaking form everyone, especially management, within the Group in favour of production that respects the environment and complies with the legislation and ArcelorMittal’s undertakings. The development of environmental awareness through information and training; Open and transparent communication between all parties involved. The company shall systematically identify any significant envronmental impact generated by its activities, its products or its services, including in particular all regulatory non-conformities.
