QUIZ Are you brave enough to have a go at the Quiz? Quiz

Judgement Your ability to weigh up situations and make ethical, responsible decisions. Knowing when to take the initiative and when to take risks. Commonsense, consistency, fairness and flexibility are all contributory factors. Who is this describing? “Some of his tactical judgement during the war was outstanding, but was his decision to cross Hitler an error of Judgement?” Answer

Bearing Who you are – what adds up to your credibility. Your appearance, charisma, physical fitness, enthusiasm, sense of humour and humility are all important elements that contribute to your ‘presence’ as a commander. Who is this describing? “He wore his dress uniform and all his medals on deck during the battle to encourage his men” Answer

Willpower Not only your determination to achieve the aim, but your commitment to your team and their needs, both collectively and as individuals. Your dedication a diligence to succeed against the odds. Who said this about the D Day landings? “Every obstacle must be overcome, every inconvenience suffered, and every risk run to ensure that our blow is decisive. We cannot afford to fail.” Answer

Integrity Honesty, loyalty and reliability are the key factors. Can you be trusted? Are you responsible? Do you consider the words ‘duty’ and ‘honour’ to be old fashioned? Will you do the right thing and set the example, all the time? Who said this about his men during the American War of Independence? “I cannot entrust a man to command others who cannot control himself” Answer

Courage Not just in charging machine gun nests, but the moral courage needed to make unpopular decisions, or ‘to do the right thing’ despite intense apprehension, fear or peer pressure to do otherwise. About who was the following statement said? “For scientific leadership, give me Scott, for swift and efficient travel, Amundsen, but when you are in a hopeless situation, when there seems no way out, get down on your knees and pray for……….? Answer

Knowledge Firstly, know yourself, then your job, then your men. Always be willing to learn and teach with humility. Experience is vital, but don’t let it become a dogma. There will always be others who know more than you. Who is this describing? “At this stage of their career they will have more than enough experience and knowledge to pass the course.” Answer
