The United States Constitution For Kids Constitution Day September 16

The Constitution was written in 1787 by a group of men referred to as our founding fathers. These men met because they were unhappy with the way the country was going. They fixed it by creating the Constitution. The Constitution gives us rights. Rights are things that all people have just because they are alive. The Bill of Rights is a part of the Constitution. It gives us rights like freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Today, the Constitution protects us and keeps us safe. We should be grateful to the founding fathers and celebrate each year that we have these freedoms and rights. The Constitution

The Preamble We the people, In order to form a more perfect union, Establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, Provide for the common defense, Promote the general welfare and Secure the blessings of liberty To ourselves and our posterity Do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

STAR SPANGLED BANNER

Star Spangled Banner Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming; Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wa-ave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND

This Land is Your Land This land is your land, this land is my land From California, to the New York Island From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway I saw above me an endless skyway I saw below me a golden valley This land was made for you and me I've roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts And all around me a voice was sounding This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, this land is my land From California, to the New York Island From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me This land was made for you and me!

YOU’RE A GRAND OLE FLAG

You’re a Grand Ole Flag You're a grand old flag, You're a high flying flag And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true 'neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old flag. You're a grand old flag, You're a high flying flag And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true 'neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

YANKEE DOODLE

Yankee Doodle Yankee Doodle went to town A-riding on a pony Stuck a feather in his hat And called it macaroni. Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle dandy Mind the music and the step And with the girls be handy.

Father and I went down to camp Along with Captain Gooding And there we saw the men and boys As thick as hasty pudding. Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle dandy Mind the music and the step And with the girls be handy.

There was Captain Washington Upon a slapping stallion A-giving orders to his men I guess there was a million. Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle dandy Mind the music and the step And with the girls be handy.

Yankee Doodle, keep it up Yankee Doodle dandy Mind the music and the step And with the girls be handy.

OUR COUNTRY

Our Country Well I can stand beside Ideals I think are right And I can stand beside The idea to stand and fight I do believe There's a dream for everyone This is our country

There's room enough here For science to live And there's room enough here For religion to forgive And try to understand All the people of this land This is our country

From the east coast To the west coast Down the Dixie Highway Back home This is our country

That poverty could be Just another ugly thing And bigotry would be Seen only as obscene And the ones that run this land Help the poor and common man This is our country

From the east coast To the west coast Down the Dixie Highway Back home This is our country

The dream is still alive Some day it will come true And this country it belongs To folks like me and you So let the voice of freedom Sing out through this land This is our country

From the east coast To the west coast Down the Dixie Highway Back home This is our country From the east coast To the west coast Down the Dixie Highway Back home This is our country
