What happens in Time Management? Effectiveness and Accomplishment Reduce stress Personal growth and development Happiness True joy

A Holistic Change A change of heart will produce a change of actions 2. A change in actions will produce a change of heart 3. Work on changing both!

You can change: Your attitude Your focus Your actions

Your Attitude: “If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.” - Marcus Aurelius

Your Attitude: Intrinsic Motivation Why am I doing what I’m doing? For whom am I doing what I’m doing? What will happen if I don’t do what I need to do?

Your Attitude: My values What are my values? What do I value doing? Why does this _______ matter?

Your Attitude: Perspective How do you see the world? There are no problems. There are only opportunities. “We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world.” - Helen Keller

Your Focus: The 80:20 Principle “The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” - Michelangelo

Your Focus: Set Goals Smart Goals S: Specific M: Measurable A: Attainable R: Relevant T: Time-bound

Your Focus: Prioritize “Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it.” - Descartes What is most important for me to do RIGHT NOW? Try doing the hardest thing first!

Your Focus: Eliminate Distractions Places NOT to do work: Spicy, the night bazar, in front of the TV, hanging out, in bed.

Your Focus: Eliminate Distractions A good Environment: Quiet, Comfortable, bodily and emotional satisfaction

Your Actions: “Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit. We become just by doing just actions, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts.” - Aristotle

Your Actions: Organization Get a calendar! Some examples:

Apple’s Calendar Program

Google Calendar

Your Actions: A word on Procrastination Recognize WHEN you are procrastinating Recognize WHY you are procrastinating Get up and DO something!

Final Thoughts Ultimately you need to find what’s best for you! No one can manage time for you (anymore). Mistakes will happen.

Final Thoughts You can’t change Time You can change your attitude, focus, and actions The only time is now...

Ready, Set, Go!
