The Diary of Anne Frank Pre-Reading

Understanding Your Person 1. How old was your person at the beginning of the war? (1939) 2. How old was your person at the end of the war? (1945) 3. How old would your person be today? 4. Make a prediction about whether you think your person lived or died during the war and why. Example: I believe my person, Max Herschal, lived because he was brave enough to fight in the resistance movement within the ghettos.

What is your opinion? 1. I want my memory to live on after my death. 2. Until mankind undergoes a great change, wars are inevitable, or unavoidable. 3. What is done cannot be undone, but one can prevent it from happening again. 4. The final forming of one’s character lies within one’s hands. 5. It is good to always follow one’s conscience. 6. In spite of everything, people are really good at heart. 7. Responding to life’s ups and downs with humor makes life easier. 8. Conflict is inevitable when people live closely together.

Opinion: Agree or Disagree…. 8. Conflict is inevitable when people live closely together. 9. Conflict is inevitable between two different groups of people. 10. Prejudiced people can be taught to be tolerant. 11. A male and a female, placed in close proximity, will eventually fall in love. 12. Nature is the best cure for loneliness. 13. The common man is just as guilty as the politician in fighting wars. 14. Privacy is a necessary element of independence. 15. Human nature changes from generation to generation.
