Character Holes

Character Vocabulary  Character-People or animals in a story.  Main Character- the most important character in the story; the person or animal the story is mostly about  Minor Character – a character in the story, that supports the main character  Flat Character – a character with only one outstanding trait or feature  Round Character – a character that is complex and multi-dimensional  Dynamic Character – a character that undergoes a change in the story  Static Character – a character who does NOT change during the story  Protagonist- the good guy or hero in the story; usually the main character in the story; usually faced with a conflict  Antagonist- the bad guy or villain; creates the conflict for the main character or protagonist  Characteristics- details that shows what a character is like, emotionally and physically  Narrator/Persona- a voice or character representing a speaker or narrator, telling the story. The narrator can be a character in the story or a 3 rd party watching the story happen.  Dialogue- the actual words that the character speak; these words are shown in quotation marks. Ex: “Hey guys!”, Mary said as she walked into the room.
