Conformance test that is specified in 3GPP specification Except that most handset manufacturers perform more tests using the Network Simulators. Then they have to perform IOT (Inter Operability test), Live air testing, Field Testing and KPI (Key Performance Index) testing, etc. There are many different types of Conformance tests that the handset should be able to pass. Generally the handset has to pass 95% of the tests to be GCF certified. The following are the main categories of Conformance: RF conformance - This is based on 3GPP specifications Recently due to its size, it has been split into and Protocol conformance - This is based on 3GPP specifications It is split into , and for 3G and TS for GSM/GPRS/EDGE devices. GCF Certification is only done for Protocol Conformance tests based on These tests are written in TTCN and are contained in 3GPP TS drafted by ETSI on behalf of 3GPP. They are debugged and verified by individual SS vendors on their platforms prior to submission for 3GPP TSG-T1 approval. Once approved by 3GPP test cases are validated by an independent test house and submitted for approval by the GCF. USIM conformance - This is based on 3GPP specifications USIM functional test - (TS ) Identification, PIN, account charging, network priority, phonebook UICC test (SIM electrical test)- (TS ) Power on/off, 1.8v/3v detection, presence Detection bit/character transmitting duration, command processing and error handling, … Acoustic conformance- (TS ) Loudness rating, idle noise, echo … Protocol Test Requirement

Protocol Signaling conformance - Network UE Message A (Layer 1/2/3 NAS) YES Message B (Layer 1/2/3 NAS) Is type and format of B correct (within given Timer limits & Specs)? PASS NO FAIL Protocol signalling scenarios : Idle and Connected Mode Mobility Circuit and Packet Switched Services Inter-RAT Multi-Services and their combinations

RF & RRM conformance - Node B No Service Poor Signal Strength Poor Signal Quality Call Drop Voice Muting Radio scenarios : Idle and Connected Mode Mobility Circuit and Packet Switched Services Inter-RAT Multi-Services and their combinations
