The Difference You Can Make Did you know that every purchase you make is a vote for change? Each time we open our wallets, we vote with our purchases! Every time a recycled, organic or eco-friendly product is purchased, it helps to encourage the growth and availability of additional green consumer choices. With SmartKlean, the environmental difference you can make is HUGE! On the next slides, you will see the big changes you can make on your own with only ONE SmartKlean® Laundry Ball.

Reduce Packaging Waste The lifespan of one SmartKlean Laundry Ball is equivalent to containers of laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets. Although some these containers used for laundry products are said to be recyclable, the sad reality is that they are ‘down-cycled’. Eventually, after being recycled a few times, plastics and cardboards are no longer usable and are sent to landfills. What’s worse is that most of them are not biodegradable. In addition to this, plastics are generally toxic to manufacture, generate waste and consume large amounts of resources and energy to be produced.

Reduce Waste in Our Waterways Today’s traditional laundry detergents use 50 fluid ounces of concentrated liquids. Because our product is designed to leave zero chemical residues behind, one laundry ball is preventing approximately 8 – 16 gallons of chemicals from entering our waste water treatment plants. Although filters and special chemicals take out solids, grit and other things, many of these treatment plants cannot filter out all types of hazardous waste. Much of the chemical waste from detergents still reach and jeopardize our precious aquatic ecosystems. What About Eco-Friendly Detergents? Even some of the trusted green brands such as Ecover and Seventh Generation contain chemicals such as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) which are lethal to fresh water fish at 7ppm (parts per million) and do not break down well in the environment.

Save Big ‘Loads’ of Water! Without any soap or detergent residue, there’s ‘nothing’ to rinse out, therefore, you can skip or start from the rinse cycle! Since most washing machines use gallons per rinse cycle, one laundry ball can save approximately 2,000-8,000 gallons of water throughout its lifespan! With a top loader, it can save up to 6,000-8,000 gallons of water and with an HE front loader, it can save anywhere from 2,400- 6,000 gallons!

Save Energy A whopping 90% of the electricity used by washing machines often goes to just heat the water! But with the SmartKlean® Laundry Ball, hot or warm water is completely unnecessary. On average, the electrical use per load of hot/warm water is 4.5 kWh (power generated per hour). If hot or warm water is used for 365 loads this totals out to 1,642.5 kWh. This is equivalent to the power consumed by a desktop computer for 8,326 hours or 343 days! Analysis calculated with a 17” monitor and using 200 wattage. Information source:

Now Just Imagine… If every household in the U.S. replaced the average use of 50 oz. petroleum-based laundry detergents with one SmartKlean Laundry Ball, we could save 1,165,000 barrels of oil - enough to heat and cool 67,000 U.S. homes for a year! If every household in the U.S. replaced a year’s worth of polyester fabric softener sheets with the SmartKlean Laundry Ball, and recycled after use, we could prevent 29,600 tons of solid waste from entering our landfills, equivalent to 3,120 garbage trucks!

Be the Change You Wish to See in the World! It is through your thoughtful buying power that GREEN can soon be the norm rather than the exception. Choose SmartKlean to reduce health risks, save money and support sustainability.
