GUIDELINES CONT’D CAN ONLY USE 1 PSYCH MOMENT PER TV EPISODE, MOVIE, NEWS STORY, ETC… MUST NOT BE TOO EXPLICIT – DELETE CERTAIN INAPPROPRIATE WORDS CAN’T REPEAT A PSYCH MOMENT SHOULD NOT MENTION OTHER STUDENTS’ OR TEACHERS’ NAMES IN A NEGATIVE MANNER NO PSYCH MOMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED LATE. THEY ARE DUE PRIOR TO THE TEST BEGINNING.

SAMPLE PSYCH MONENT Sat. 12/5/09 at 3:00pm “I was watching an episode of “Friends” and the gang teased Monica about having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. She kept putting things back in order after Phoebe moved them. Obsessive-Compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder. Obsessions are thoughts and compulsions are actions. Both can be so persistent that they interfere with normal activities and can cause distress.”

SAMPLE PSYCH MOMENT THURS. DECEMBER 10 TH AT 4:00pm “I was watching “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and learned that Ron has a fear of spiders. This is called arachnophobia, which is a phobia that is characterized by an irrational fear of spiders. Phobias are irrational fears that disrupt behavior and focus anxiety on a specific object or situation. Phobias are the most common form of anxiety disorders. Phobias are not the same as fears.”
