Desolate Adjective: (of a place) deserted of people and in the state of bleek and dismal emptiness Sentence: This will make many people feel desolate and depressed at a time they need to see their loved one daily

Stance Noun: The way in which someone stands, especially when deliberately adopted (as in baseball, golf, and other sports ) ; a person’s posture. Sentence: Rhyn lowered himself into a fighting stance and faced off against the two.

Chastise Dated: Punish, especially by beating. Sentence: Actually, Gerald’s intent was probably to ward off an attack, rather than chastise Alex.

Fallacy Noun: A mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument. Sentence: Violation of this is the Fallacy of “ undistributed middle”

Capacious Adjective: Having a lot of space inside; roomy Sentence: She carried a capacious bag.

Sporadic Adjective: Occurring at irregular intervals or only in a few places: scattered or isolated. Sentence: The doctor decided to hospitalize my mother because of he sporadic heartbeat.

Theme Noun: The subject of a talk, a piece of writing, a person’s thoughts, or an exhibition; a topic Sentence: The birthday theme was Disney.

Haggard Adjective: looking exhausted and unwell, especially from fatigue, worry or suffering. Sentence: Taran glanced at him, noticing how haggard the older man suddenly appeared.

Lucrative Adjective: producing a great deal of profit. It’s a well known fact: even the simplest ideas can become very lucrative

Apprehend Verb: Arrest (someone) for a crime. Sentence: It took several police officers to apprehend the fugitive and return him to jail.

Gullible Adjective: Easily persuaded to believe something credulous. I was gullible for believing everything they said.

Crucial Adjective: decisive or critical, especially in the success or failure of something. Sentence: The crucial step in the operation is restarting the patient's heart.

Avid Adjective: having or showing a keen interest in or enthusiasm for something. Sentence: I am an avid supporter of my local football team

Pithy Adjective: (of language or style) concise and forcefully expressive. Sentence Old Mr. Brown was not known for talking much, but what he did say was always pithy.

Connoisseur Noun: an expert judge in matters of taste. Sentence: He is a connoisseur of fine wines and is always a welcomed guest at our wine tasting events
