( 一 ) Status and Function Unit2 is concerned with the ancient and modern Olympic Games. The emphasis of this period is laid on developing students ’ listening and speaking abilities. They play an important part in learning English. The purpose of Listening on P15 is to finish the story of Atlanta and encourage students to learn more Ancient stories. ( 三 ).Teaching key and difficult points 1.The key point is to get students to learn more about the Olympic Games and develop the students’ listening and speaking abilities. 2.The difficult point is how to help students organize their language and cultivate their confidence in speaking English. My class is made up of 55 students, most of whom are interested in different kinds of sports. I believe that we will cooperate well. However, students are still poor in learning English, especially they are afraid to speak English in public. So I will try my best to guide and encourage the students to speak English loudly in class.
