A stressor is any situation, event, or agent that threatens a person’s security. A certain amount of stress is necessary for survival.

Anxiety is a vague, nonspecific, uncomfortable subjective response as the result of a perceived or actual threat to one’s biologic, psychologic, or social integrity.
