Good News in a Bad State Part One – The Beatitudes

Jesus attracted those who wanted to hear

Matthew 5:1-2 "When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,…"

He addressed the spiritually bankrupt

Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

The grieved will be relieved

Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

Those who surrender, win.

Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.”

Those who have a soul need, God will meet it.

Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."
