Love sincerely apologizes. Love sincerely forgives.
8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it – I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while – 9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:8-10
Godly/sincere sorrow leads to repentance (changed attitude/behavior).
How do you “get” godly sorrow? 1)Recognize the damage your sin has caused. 2)Admit and fight your pride. 3)Ask God for godly sorrow; ask others to pray for you.
Love sincerely apologizes. Love sincerely forgives. 1)What is forgiveness? 2)Do I need to forgive if -they don’t apologize? -they aren’t sorry or? -they aren’t sincere in their apology?
1)What is forgiveness? Forgiveness is a commitment to “walk away” from an offense. Forgiveness is a commitment to not retaliate or hope for their harm or speak mean to them or about them. Forgiveness is a process. Forgiveness does NOT mean there are no consequences or boundaries.
2)Do I need to forgive if -they don’t apologize? -they aren’t sorry or? -they aren’t sincere in their apology?
