Rhyme Rhyme Two women on the lone wet strand (The wind's out with a will to roam) The waves wage war on rocks and sand, (And a ship is long due home.) The sea sprays in the women's eyes— (Hearts can writhe like the sea's wild foam) Lower descend the tempestuous skies, (For the wind's out with a will to roam.) "O daughter, thine eyes be better than mine," (The waves ascend high as yonder dome) "North or south is there never a sign?" They watched there all the long night through— Wind and rain and sorrow for two— (And heaven on the long reach home.) Rhyme Rhyme
Imagery “ The waves wage war on rocks and sand, (And a ship is long due home.) I think this means that the ship should come back home soon because it has been gone for too long. (Hearts can writhe like the sea’s wild foam.) I think it means that the heart is like the sea, because of its ability of being wild and unpredictable. (Wind and rain and sorrow for two- and heaven on the long reach home.) I think this is saying that if you have sorrow in a relationship that it will be a long way from heaven. When your relationship is at a halt. Imagery

I think that the author’s purpose for writing this poem was to compare the heart and the sea. For example he says that the “heart can wraith like the seas wild foam.” Which to me means that he feels like the heart is like the wild sea foam because of its crazy and unbelievable strengths.
