The Daily Life and Culture of the Ancient Egyptians TEAM #5 Raven, Dakotah, Alex, Eli

The Ancient Egyptian Children *Some of the little girls owned dolls *The kids played ball and stick games *They ran around naked until the age of 4 *They liked to imitate their parents *All kids wore amulets *A child’s birth brought great joy *The common amount of children in each home was 4 to 6.

Religion The Ancient Egyptians worshiped gods. Many of the gods were half-animal, half- human. To show their devotion to their gods, they built temples for the gods. They also worshiped cats, and that was the most valuable animal to them. They had over 2,000 gods and goddesses.

The Lotus Flower The Lotus Flower was an important part of their religion because it stood for re-birth.

Food The food was discriminated to the upper and lower classes. The lower class which consisted of peasants,workers,and slaves were not given the good food. The lower class were given fish, figs, onions, grapes, and other things that were grown on farms, or in gardens. The upper class had many of those foods, but they also had meat and wine.

Women Jobs Women Jobs *Women had the following jobs: *cleaning *making clothes *preparing food *caring for the children *making crafts *beauticians *farmers

Men Jobs Men had the following jobs: *made beer *bakers *florists *millers *musicians *farmers *doctors

Clothing Most of the clothes were made out of linen Men wore kilts Some women didn’t wear anything on their top half. Other women wore dresses.

Fun Facts *The men shaved their heads because of the heat *The first and only queen in Ancient Egypt was Queen Hatshepsut. *There were two kinds of cats in those times. *Many of their objects were made of wood because they had limited sources.
