Words “Behave” & “Unseemly” Greek [aschemoneo]  “To act unbecomingly”  “To conduct oneself, indicating ones manner of life and character”  “Not Indecent” Literal Meaning “to be shapeless or unformed” Undisciplined behavior Not one that is rude, out of place, overbearing.

Words “Behave” & “Unseemly” English “Behave”  “To conduct oneself in a proper manner”  It means to: “act well, do what is right”  “To regulate, restrain, or control.”

Words “Behave” & “Unseemly” English “unseemly”  “Not according with established standards of good form or taste, [bickering]”  “Not suitable for time or place -- inappropriate, unseasonable”  “Offensive to good taste”

It is not rude, but is courteous. “Marked by polished manners” It is tactful Do not embarrass others It is not ill-mannered Rudeness is a sign of weakness

Bible Verses discuss “Behaving” I Timothy 3:15 - (ESV) “ if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God” I Thes. 2:10 NKJV “You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;” 2 Thes. 3:7 “we behaved not ourselves disorderly” 1 Tim. 3:2 “of good behavior” Titus. 2:3 “be in behavior as becometh holiness”

Bible Verses discuss “Behaving” David behaved himself wisely 1 Sam. 18:5 “ And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely :” 1 Sam.18:14,15 “ And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways” - “Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.” v.30 “ behaved himself more wisely ” Ps.101:2 “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way.”

A Gentleman is Courteous What is a gentleman ? “A man whose conduct conforms to a high standard of propriety or correct behavior.” Web. Tit.3:2 “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness…” Gal. 5:22 “gentleness” 2 Cor. 10:1 “gentleness of Christ”

A Gentleman is Courteous Paul was a gentleman ! Acts 17:1-10  He was not rude in his manner  He did not try to see how abusive he could get toward those who disagreed with him.  He did not slander and blacken the names. Why ? He was filled with Love !

A Gentleman is Courteous Paul was a gentleman ! 1 Thes.2:7 “But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children” He was gentle as a nurse fondling a new-born baby. Love does not behave itself unseemly.

Love is Courteous “Nothing is ever lost by courtesy. It is the cheapest of the pleasures, costs nothing and conveys much. It pleases him who gives and him who receives, and thus, like mercy, it is twice blessed.” Love requires the Christian to be courteous, kind in speech and respectful in manner.

Love is Courteous “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,” II Timothy 2:24-25 Courtesy, tact, and respect are as natural to love as breathing is to us. Love drives from one's life all rudeness.

Love is Courteous Courtesy is the only virtue that will be practiced in heaven.  Not courage - nothing to fear  Not hope - nothing to be desired  Not charity - no hunger or thirst  Not sympathy - no more crying But there will be room for courtesy !
