Accommodation  Ajou University Dormitory "Woncheon Dormitory Complex" houses over 2,300 domestic and international residents consisting of 4 buildings.  At Hwa-hong Hall, over 300 international students can accommodate either in two-people-shared room or in four-people-shared room.  Apartment living is also available

What should you bring?  Toiletries  You can buy toiletry items while in South Korea, but you want to make sure that you don’t need to immediately go shopping for items when you get there Soap/ toothpaste/ towels/ Kleenex / toilet paper etc  Whatever you bring, you should not bring anything that you aren’t willing to lose.  No important keep sakes or precious items  You passport should be the most important thing on you.

When you actually use a check, you will generally be required to endorse it with your name, address/phone number, or ID number. You may also be requested to present your ID card.

Interesting Places in Suwon  Hwaseong Fortress  A wall that surrounds the center of Suwon. It was built in the last 18th century by King Jeonajo of the Joseon Dynasty. It is Located 19 miles south of Seoul and enclosing much of central Suwon. it is considered a World Heritage site since The Suwoncheon, the main stream in Suwon, flows through the centre of the fortress.  Mr. Toilet House  It’s a toilet Museum shaped like a toilet! The point of the museum is to raise awareness about the importance of water and sanitation and, through fund-raising projects and dialogues with different groups, help provide toilets in countries lacking in proper toilet facilities  Korean Folk Village  This folk village has a collection of thatched and tiled traditional houses. It takes about half a day to look around and to see the live performers, consisting of farmers music and dance, acrobats on a tightrope, equestrian events and a traditional wedding ceremony.  Gwanggyosan Mountain  Located in the north end of Suwon. It is in north end of Suwon and offers an excellent of view of Suwon and the surrounding area. There are a number of peaks as well as a number of trails of varying difficulty

Vaccinations  The vaccinations needed depend on personal records and what you feel is most comfortable for you  A more comprehensive list is herehere  If you decide to travel outside of Suwon and into a more rural area, make sure you research the diseases most common there to keep yourself safe.  If nothing else, make sure that you are up-to-date for routine vaccinations

What to look out for  As with every major city, there is crime and as a foreigner in another country you could possibly be targeted.  Watch for pick-pocketers and don’t carry all your money on you  Don’t go anywhere by yourself  Stay in groups  Don’t go to shady areas  Keep your passport and important items in a safe location

Preparations before the trip?- VISA  Students planning to study for the summer may apply for the C-3 Visa. This visa can be issued immediately upon application at either the Korean Embassy or the Consulate Office  Required documents for application are: 1) Passport 2) Visa Application 3) Letter of Admission/Letter of Acceptance 4) Notarized Sponsorship Letter

Preparations before the trip?- VISA  Students applying for the Fall or Spring semester should apply for the D-2 Visa.  Students planning on studying for more than one term (more than 91 days) should apply for the D-2 visa. This visa is usually good for 6 months and can be renewed within Korea. Since this visa takes approximately 1 month to be processed, students should apply for this visa at least 2 months before leaving for Korea. Required documents for application are:  1) Passport  2) Visa Application Form  3) Official Letter of Acceptance  4) Financial Statement  5) Money Transference/Exchange Certificate (more than $3000 USD)  6) Letter of Sponsorship
