Summit Overview Twelfth Annual Summit and hosted by St. Martin’s University Registered 172 students, 25 parents, 14 educators from 18 schools across six counties – Reduced student registrations due to first-time ever Saturday program – Parent registrations due to first-time ever Parent workshops Three main parts to the day – Keynote speech, “Imagine Your Future” by Sandra Madrid, Special Assistant to the Vice President for Minority Affairs/Vice Provost for Diversity, University of Washington (with two guest co-speakers) – Students met with local employers and colleges during lunch – More than 12 student/parent workshops; CE credit workshops for educators A pre-survey was administered at registration to collect demographic data A post-survey was administered after the Summit to determine impact (results forthcoming) Summary of Latino Youth Summit Report: 2012 and a Ten-Year Look Back 3

Pre-Survey Data Summary Five counties represented with Grays Harbor providing the most (85) and Kitsap providing the fewest (1) Returning and first time participants* – Aberdeen notable for most first-time (40), most returning (18), most overall – Aberdeen notable for most distant – Shelton and Rochester notable for more than 50% returning participants Of concern – Most distant district had greatest number of attendees (58) – Three closest districts had fewer overall attendees than most distant *Per school participation details in Supplemental Information at end Summary of Latino Youth Summit Report: 2012 and a Ten-Year Look Back 4

Pre-Survey Data summary Grade distribution of participants was weighted slightly toward seniors with juniors having the fewest Demographics of participants – 60% female, 40% male – 98% self-identify as Hispanic, <1% as non- Hispanic, 1% chose to not identify – 24% of registrants were first-generation Latino; 13% were second generation 48% did not know what generation they were Summary of Latino Youth Summit Report: 2012 and a Ten-Year Look Back 5
