The Hunger and Thirst Games Matthew 5:6

The video Jesus vs Religion received over 12 million hits Why?

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. - Jesus Matthew 5:6

Religion by definition says the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.

Jesus was opposed to any system that stood between the hurting, the broken, the sinful and Him. Religion, in the videos case, is a set of beliefs or practices without Jesus.

There are six cases of the word religion in the Bible (depending in translation). Here are three of them 1 Timothy 5:4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

James 1:26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Jesus and the Thirsty Woman John chapter 4

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Religion is about separation not unity.

“Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” Religion is about “where do you worship” instead of “who do you worship?”

Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town... When you meet Jesus you’ll leave your “bucket” (religion) behind to reach the world.

13 Religion, a list of do’s and don’t’s will never satisfy our hunger, but Jesus will.
