Identifying the Need  Engagement in patient safety at the front line of care identified as a priority  Primary focus given to nurse-specific indicators as they relate to patient safety  HAI’s, HAC’s, Never Events, etc.  Engaged Shared Governance councils in owning nursing practice to heighten patient safety

Initiatives  K.O.P.S. – Keeping Our Patients Safe  Blow the Whistle Campaign  Full engagement in the GHA HEN initiative  Poster contest during nurse week  Must focus on patient safety  Must be evidence-based  Must involve frontline nursing staff  Must exemplify ownership of nursing practice
