Major Changes in Erasmus + Turkey has equal rights/status as EU members, candidates and EEA countries Turkey can directly sign agreement with all eligible program countries be it EU, candidate or EEA country Seven former programs (such as LLP Erasmus, Youth, Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, etc.) were combined under one umbrella program: Erasmus +

Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals A. Mobility Projects in the Field of: i. Education, Training ii. Youth B. Large Scale European Voluntary Service Events; C. Joint Master Degrees D. Master Student Loan Guarantee.

A. Mobility Projects i) Education and Training: for higher education students and staff for Vocational Education and Training learners and staff for school staff for adult education staff ii) Youth for young people and youth workers

i) Education and Training: Major Changes DS & ECTS Labels have been abolished Instead a new recognition tool will be launched Erasmus Bilateral Agreement has been replaced by Erasmus + Interinstitutional Agreement with a new format Scanned copies of the signed agreements will be accepted

i) Education and Training: For Higher Education Students Major Changes in Student Mobility: Same student may benefit from mobility up to 12 months maximum, per each cycle of study (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.) independently from the number and type of mobility activities (including traineeship) Starting from , Erasmus+ countries will be able to send and receive students & staff to and from partner countries outside the European Area

i) Education and Training: For Higher Education Students No longer EILC courses from ; instead online linguistic support initially for 5 languages: EN, DE, ES, FR, IT New format for Learning Agreement: 15 pages including 3 sections: “before mobility”, “during mobility”, “after mobility” - Signed scanned copies eligible - The list of courses both at the partner university and reciprocal courses recognized at METU - Reason for course change - The beginning and end dates of the mobility

i) Education and Training: For Higher Education Students Major Changes in Traineeship: Duration: between 2-12 months Students will also be able to benefit from traineeship 12 months after graduation on condition that they apply in the last year of their study

i) Education and Training: For Higher Education Staff Major Changes: Staff Mobility for Teaching: Duration: 2 days – 2 months (excluding travel time) On condition of 8 hours lecture Staff Mobility for Training: Duration: 2 days – 2 months (excluding travel time) Apart from the regular trainings; courses, internships are eligible (except for conferences or congresses)

i) Education and Training: Major Changes in Grants Student Mobility Grants: More than one and maxiumum up to 12 months per each cycle of study independently from the type of mobility activities (including traineeship) Grants set by the EU Commission in 3 distinct categories of countries depending on their living cost: -Group I: maximum 500 Euros/monthly -Group II: between Euros/monthly -Group III: minimum 150 Euros/monthly Traineeship: student mobility grants Euros/monthly

i) Education and Training: Major Changes in Grants Group 1: maximum 500 Euros monthly Program Countries with higher living costs: Denmark, Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland Group 2: average Euros monthly Program Countries with medium living costs: Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Iceland, Turkey Group 3: minimum 150 Euros monthly Program Countries with lower living costs: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

i) Education and Training: Major Changes in Grants Higher Education Staff Grants Set by the EU Commission; 4 distinct categories of countries -Group I: Euros per day Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, UK -Group II: Euros per day Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, France,Italy, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Romania, Finland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey -Group III: Euros per day Germany, Spain, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia -Group IV: Euros per day Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, Slovenia

i) Education and Training: Major Changes in Grants Higher Education Staff Grants Travel costs defined according to distance: km: 180 EUR km: 275 EUR km: 360 EUR km: 530 EUR km: 820 EUR 8000 km or more: 1100 EUR

A. Mobility Projects ii) Youth: Mobility projects for young people and youth workers a) Mobility of Young People 1. Youth Exchanges: - Up to 21 days - Non-formal education techniques such as workshops 2. European Voluntary Service - Up to 12 months - Unpaid and full time voluntary service - Accreditation is required for participating institutions b) Mobility of Youth Workers - Participation in seminars, training courses, study visits etc. - Job shadowing/observation period abroad - Application to the National Agency 3 times/year

Action 1: B. Large Scale European Voluntary Service Events Minimum 30 volunteers aged Up to 2 months Unpaid, voluntary and full time service European or worldwide events In the field of youth, culture and sport Such as World Youth Summits, European Capital of Culture etc. Application directly to the Commission

Action 1: C. Joint Master Degrees Full degree scholarships to the best master students Worldwide Continuation and strengthening of former Erasmus Mundus Master Courses An international study program of 60, 90 or 120 ECTS Joint degrees or multiple degrees Funding for 4 or 5 years covering 3 consecutive student intakes Applicant/Coordinator: a HEI from an Erasmus+ country JMD grant for the preparatory year and the three student intakes will vary indicatively between 2 and 3 million EUR. Application: March 27, 2014; directly to the Commission

C. Joint Master Degrees A minimum share of 75 % of scholarships to partner countries Joint Master Degree management: Contribution to the consortium management costs and costs for invited scholars and guest lecturers: EUR for the preparatory year EUR per intake for students’ scholarships: € per student - for tuition fee: 4500 €/year € /year - full insurance coverage - travel: 1000 – 4000 € (one round ticket) - subsistence costs: 1000 €/month

D. Master Student Loan Guarantee Master's level students apply individually to banks Loans on affordable conditions by banks in national countries Up to 2 years In cooperation with European Investment Bank Group More information will be available on the website of the European Commission in due course.
