Medicare A federal government program that provides health care for most individuals over the age 65(: For anyone who has been receiving Social Security benefits for at least 2 years For any person with end stage renal (kidney) disease. Only pays 80% of the expenses, So the individual must pay the rest or have another insurance to cover the rest of the charges.

There are three types of Medicare coverage: Type A: Covers hospital services, care provided by an ended care facility or home-health care agency after hospitalization, and hospice care for people with terminal illness. Type B: Offers additional coverage for doctors’ services, outpatient treatments, therapy, clinical laboratory services, and other health care. Type D: For Pharmaceutical (medication) expenses.

Medigap A policy that helps pay the expenses not covered by Medicare. Offered by insurance companies. Require a monthly payment. Must meet specific federal guidelines. Costumers can choose what kind of coverage they would like to purchase.

Medicaid A medical assistance program paid by the Federal and State Government. Services vary due to the State, Because states have the right to choose what coverage they think is reasonable. In most states people that qualify for Medicaid are, low income families, Children who pre-qualify for public assistance, and individuals who are disabled or blind.

Most states provide hospital services, Physician’s care, long-term care service, and some therapies. Even more services that can be provided are, Dental Care, Eye care, and other specialized services.

The State Children Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) Was established in 1997 Provided health care to children who were uninsured. Children who’s families made too little to afford insurance, but too much for Medicaid. Provides Inpatient and outpatient hospital services, physician’s surgical and medical care, Laboratory and X-ray tests, and well-baby and well-child care, Including immunizations
