Think about how people’s view of their lives and beliefs would change if life were found somewhere other than Earth ? As we find how “tough” life is in extreme environments on Earth ( and some we sent out in space ) more and more scientists think it’s only a matter of time before we do find life elsewhere. Hydrothermal vents on the bottom of the ocean (black smokers) where heat from magma brings minerals to “surface” and bacteria live on the chemicals (no sunlight needed), tube worms/clams filter the bacteria from the water and then crabs/shrimp scavenge the dead worms/clams (and dead crabs too). A simple ecosystem that could have been how life started on Earth instead of tide pools ( or other planets/moons? ). end show
