How to Succeed in AVID Top Ten Ways

Set goals  Be driven by a compass, not a clock.

Think college.  AVID is a college prep program.  AVID students are college-bound.

Have a great binder.  The AVID 3 ring binder goes everywhere with you!  “ One World, One Binder ”

Take Cornell notes.  The Cornell system is a complete learning system.  Cornell notes work for YOU in every academic class.

Organize.  Work smarter, not harder.  Write down ALL assignments

Two hours of homework  This is a minimum requirement.

Ask questions. The 3-story Intellect:  Application  Processing  Information

Use tutorials to learn.  “ None of us is as smart as all of us. ”  Learn how to learn.

Please your teachers. SLANT  Sit up front  Lean forward  Ask questions  Nod your head  Talk to the teacher

Respect & Responsibility  These are the foundation for success in school and life.
